Damian McLindon‘s short film, The Last Time I Saw You, has taken out first place at the 2019 Peninsula Film Festival.
Inspired by a true story, the film follows the journey of a refugee teenager and her struggle to fit into Australian culture.
Damian McLindon says “I was incredibly moved by the trauma, sadness and ultimately the joy of a girl finding her place in a new and contrasting society. This is a small slice-of-life story of a larger refugee crisis, and the plight of so many – leaving behind their home, friends and family – in the hope of a better future.”
The film has won a number of other prestigious awards including winning the Port Douglas Film Festival, third place in Tropfest (2018), and taking out four of the seven Tropfest craft awards for best screenplay, editing, design, and sound.
The Last Time I Saw You, and a selection of other favourites from the Peninsula Film Festival, are available to watch on Ozflix TV.
